Who is the current webmaster of this website?

My name is Carol Dales and I've been a reference librarian in Carson, California, at  California State University, Dominguez Hills, in Carson, California, for the past six years.  After way too many  paraprofessional years at Winnipeg Public Library,  I graduated from  Emporia State University with my Master of Library Science degree in 1996, returning to  WPL to work as  an Information Services Librarian for three years. I completed my  undergraduate degree at  the University of Manitoba, and am currently putting the finishing  touches on an M.A. in Humanities at CSUDH, the very university where I  work.

My work as a reference librarian has included coordinating the CSUDH Library's   instruction and distance learning services programs. I'm a member of the American   Library Association, ACRL (Association of College and Research Libraries), CARL  (California Academic & Research Libraries), sCIL   (Southern California Instruction  Librarians), Music Library Association, Southern   California Chapter, and Beta Phi Mu.

When not at work, I enjoy playing the piano, running, hiking, keeping an eye on EBay,  haunting bookstores old and new and spending time with my wonderful husband.  We're both helpless slaves to our two long-haired felines. We try to make regular visits to    family and friends in Winnipeg and to my snowbird parents in Weslaco, Texas, and our  door is always open to fellow Canadians fleeing winter's fury.

I assumed responsibility for Canadian Librarians in America in Spring of 2004.

I sincerely hope you find the website both useful and enjoyable, and I welcome
  your  comments,  suggestions, and feedback

Who founded Canadian Librarians in America?

This website was launched by a Canadian librarian in Florida, Patricia Presti,  in Summer,  2000, when she had already  been working in the U.S. for three years. While working at  Lynn  University in  Boca Raton, Patricia saw the need for a resource to assist librarians  who  wanted to  obtain or share information about accepting a job and moving to the  United  States.  Fortunately for all of us, she had both the vision and the determination to  create the  highly successful Canadian Librarians in America website.

In 2002, after six productive years at Lynn University, Patricia left  her  post as Associate Librarian for Distance Learning and Instruction to return to  Canada.  She is currently campus librarian at the Markham campus of Seneca College.
